SARĀB
(arabic: mirage, illusion)

A monolithic, hexagonal structure with reflective exterior walls rises like a mirage from its surroundings.
Upon entering the interior, the boundary between perception and illusion blurs in a symmetrical labyrinth.
Architecture of illusion: Inspired by oriental ornaments, the hexagonal floor plan with only six wall and six column elements sets the stage for a minimalist yet effective play with reality.
The corridors inside are alternately covered with mirrors and ornamental walls printed with oriental-style patterns.
These materials and the precise symmetry create an endless cascade of reflections.
The arrangement of both surfaces creates a deeper mirage (Sarāb): in the labyrinth, you never know whether you are seeing the bright, slightly shiny patterned surfaces or just their reflection. These patterns serve as a colorful anchor point, anchoring the labyrinth in a unique, timeless order.
Inside the installation, the structure is completely immersed in cool blue.

Construction and materials used in SARĀB
The installation is designed for a minimum aisle width of 1 meter to ensure
full accessibility for all visitors, including wheelchair users.
Option 1:
Cost-optimized construction
This variant enables economical implementation with maximum visual impact:
Basic structure:
Sturdy wooden frames form the skeleton of the wall and column elements.
Wall cladding:
Lightweight 4 mm wood or plastic panels serve as the surface supports.
Surface:
The illusion is created by films:
Mirror: High-quality mirror films.
Pattern: Shiny metallic films, printed with the high-resolution ornamental design.
Stability:
If necessary, the elements are fixed with aluminum connecting
elements to ensure the static stability of the entire hexagonal floor plan.
Option 2:
High-quality construction
This variant offers maximum resistance, combined with higher costs:
Basic structure:
Solid metal frame constructions (steel or aluminum) for each individual wall and column element.
Surface:
Mirror: Robust Plexiglas mirrors (for durability and break resistance).
Pattern: Directly printed aluminum panels (for maximum color and weather resistance).
Stability:
The entire structure is secured with precise aluminum connections for lasting stability.
